Today we talk about the power of healing.
And speaking about healing is speaking about something very intimate, very sacred, because every person here carries a story, a pain, a struggle that is not always visible.
Some pains are in the body.
Others are in the soul.
And God knows them all.
“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
(Psalm 34:18)
Before any visible miracle, God comes close with His presence, love, and care. Our Body Is the Temple of the Holy Spirit
The Word reminds us:
“Do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God, and that you are not your own?”
(1 Corinthians 6:19)
This is very profound.
God chose to dwell in us.
The Holy Spirit makes His home in this body, in this life, in this heart.
We are not merely matter.
We are God’s dwelling place.
And where God dwells, there is life, there is power, there is hope.
Declaring and Decreeing: Words That Create Atmosphere
In our prayer life, there is something very important.
To declare is to confess with faith what God has already said.
It is aligning our words with the Word.
“Faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.”
(Romans 10:17)
Examples:
“I declare that the Lord is my healer.”
“I declare that God takes care of me.”
“I declare that I am not alone.”
To decree is to release that truth with spiritual authority, changing the reality we are facing in that moment.
It is a positioning of the soul.
“You will also decree a thing, and it will be established for you; and light will shine on your ways.”
(Job 22:28)
Examples:
“I decree that this body belongs to the Holy Spirit.”
“I decree that everything that does not come from God has no permission to remain in me.”
“I decree life, peace, and restoration.”
👉 Declaring aligns faith.
👉 Decreeing exercises spiritual authority.
Be Careful With What We Spread
There is something very important and very delicate:
when a doctor says something negative about our health, we do not need to go around spreading that to everyone.
This is not denying reality,
but choosing which word will have greater authority over us.
“Death and life are in the power of the tongue.”
(Proverbs 18:21)
Instead of spreading the diagnosis, we choose to spread faith.
We choose to declare the power of God.
Because the God we serve is:
the God who raises the dead
the God who breathed life into the valley of dry bones
“Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O Spirit, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.”
(Ezekiel 37:9)
the God who raised Jesus on the third day
“But God raised Him from the dead.”
(Acts 13:30)
In other words, our God specializes in impossible cases.
He has the power to restore, rebuild, regenerate, and resurrect every area of our body — which is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
“If the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies.”
(Romans 8:11)
Healing Also Involves the Soul
In our daily prayers, besides asking for healing of the body, it is very important to ask:
“Search me, O God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts.”
(Psalm 139:23)
To ask God to clean our soul:
remove resentment
remove anger
remove unforgiveness
remove hurts
remove envy
remove old burdens
Because many times we carry emotional pain for years, and it makes us sick inside.
“Confess your faults to one another and pray for one another, that you may be healed.”
(James 5:16)
Our God is a God of healing,
but He is also a merciful God who forgives, restores, and gives new beginnings.
“The mercies of the Lord are the reason we are not consumed.”
(Lamentations 3:22)
Personal Testimony
Years ago, I myself received a difficult diagnosis.
Inside me there was a lot of fear — especially of doctors, hospitals, and treatments. I had always been afraid of people wearing white coats.
One day, in prayer, I said something simple but very profound:
“Lord, my body is Yours.
It is the temple of the Holy Spirit.
Everything that is impure, everything that does not come from You, I decree that it be expelled and removed from my body.
Because this body must be holy and pure.”
I also said:
“God is the Doctor of doctors.
He can operate on me without me feeling pain.”
And I made a choice:
I chose to trust God more than my fear.
“Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him, and He will act.”
(Psalm 37:5)
I asked for something specific:
peace in my heart.
“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.”
(Philippians 4:7)
And the miracle happened.
I was healed without needing surgery.
God touched me.
It was not the absence of fear.
It was faith despite the fear.
A Very Important (and Sensitive) Truth
God does not measure our faith by the visible result.
Faith is not a formula.
Faith is a relationship.
Sometimes healing is immediate.
Sometimes it is a process.
Sometimes God heals the body.
Sometimes He begins by healing the soul.
But in every case, the greatest promise is:
“I will never leave you nor forsake you.”
(Hebrews 13:5)A Simple (and Powerful) Spiritual Practice
A very special recommendation for our daily life:
listen to worship songs every day at home while we pray.
“Speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.”
(Ephesians 5:19)
Worship music:
calms the heart
changes the spiritual atmosphere
strengthens faith
reminds us of God’s promises
“But You are holy, enthroned in the praises of Israel.”
(Psalm 22:3)
Sometimes we cannot even pray properly,
but we can listen to a worship song and cry in God’s presence — and that is also prayer.
Prayer
Lord,
we declare that You are a God of love, care, and compassion.
We declare that our bodies are Your temple.
We decree that Your peace rules our hearts.
We decree that Your presence is greater than any diagnosis.
Search our hearts.
Heal our soul.
Clean what needs to be cleaned.
And breathe life where there is weariness, fear, and pain.
In Jesus’ name. Amen.
To Close: Verses to Declare and Decree in Prayer
“He sent His word and healed them.”
(Psalm 107:20)
Illness may touch the body,
but the final word always belongs to God.
And the first healing He offers
is the peace that fills the heart. 🌿
